AudioPen is an app that uses A.I. to streamline the process of cranking out text.
What does that mean, exactly?
Well, the website describes it this way:
- AudioPen transforms messy voice notes into publish-ready text
- Draft articles, memos, emails, and more. In a fraction of the time.
After using it, I’m convinced this is a tool that most lawyers will love once they start using it.
Here’s what you need to know…
Simple & Easy to Use
- The application stands out in its utter simplicity and user-friendly interface
- The word that most comes to mind while using AudioPen is “frictionless”
How it works:
- You can try it for free (download the app and be prepared to be amazed)
- It works on a computer or smartphone (It’s best to start by using it on your phone)
- The free version allows you to record notes up to 3 minutes in length, which is enough to get started
- The app refines the spoken content by removing pauses, and filler words, reordering content to make it more coherent
- The app enables you to store recordings, tag them, organize them into folders, or even export them (all with minimal friction)
- After the recording is processed (which takes just a few minutes) you get access to the summary and a raw transcript, which you can copy and paste as needed
Paid Version (called “Prime”)
- Enables recording for up to 15 minutes
- Allows you to upload audio files for processing
- Enables users to customize the writing style and format, ranging from an informal basic style to mimicking anyone’s unique writing style
- Integrates with Zapier so you can have audio summaries automatically emailed to you or sent to a private Slack channel (as demonstrated here)
Why it’s useful
- It makes drafting many emails easier and faster
- Appreciated by writers who dread starting with a blank page.
- Eliminates the challenges that come with creating a summary of generalized ideas.
- Allows you to speak quickly, trusting the app to make corrections and improve your words.
Two Options for Prime
- The first option is $75/year, which is an ongoing expense.
- The second option is $150, which is a one-time fee for lifetime access.
- You also have the option to give someone lifetime access as a gift if you’d like.
- The price has risen over the past months, so it might be good to lock in the current price.
Glowing Testimonial
I found out about AudioPen from one of my Inner Circle members, who created a post describing its value as follows:
“In the first five days of using AudioPen, it has significantly improved my workflows. I really hate writing from a blank page. AudioPen lets me quickly get the first pass out, and then you edit.
I use it mainly for emails. It is far more effective than traditional dictation methods, where you get distracted by the pauses and rewinding to create an error – just keep going and trust that it will correct.”
I’ve only been using it for two days, and I wholeheartedly agree. It’s a game-changer, especially when using the advanced features in the “Prime” version.
