I've used a Fujitsu for several years. When they get older, you have to watch to make sure it doesn't try to "skip" pages. (Installing new rollers would probably fix this "problem".) I don't mind doing this but my office is not entirely "paperless". Another nice feature is that the Fujitsu package includes a basic Adobe writer. If you're going to do a lot of Bates Stamping, you may want to consider upgrading to Adobe Professional so you might want to include these costs when comparing other manufacturer's offerings.
I read the same post on Lawyerist. Then read this post. Then I bought the Fujitsu. I really appreciate the (seemingly) candid advice about the scanners. It saves me a lot of hassle. I can't speak to whether it was a good buy, but I am VERY excited about the possibility of a paperless law office.
