Saturday afternoon wine tasting

Bacchanal
Last Saturday some friends invited me to a wine tasting.  It was at a place called Bacchanal, which is located in the Bywater area of New Orleans.  Several people had told me about Bacchanal but for some reason I had never managed to visit.  Well, I liked it so much that I came back this week and brought my brother, who is in town visiting from Panama.  We hooked up with some other friends and had a great time, laughing and just hanging out.  Bacchanal is cozy and the atmosphere encourages people to mingle, so don’t go unless you like to meet interesting new people.  There are other events besides the free wine tasting on Saturday: on some nights they show movies in the courtyard, and on Tuesday nights you can get a massage and a manicure.  I’ll bet that’s a good night to meet interesting people.

So, if you haven’t been to Bacchanal then you need to go, and be sure to meet the owner, Chris Rudge.  He’s one of those people that make New Orleans worth living in, even after the whole apocalyptic flooding thing.
