Nanotech lets you manipulate molecules; politics lets you manipulate science

I used to think that science was a dispassionate quest for truth, unencumbered by mystical beliefs or misinformed do-gooders. But then I grew up.

I am fascinated by the promise of biotech and things like stem-cell research. And I’m fascinated by the promise, albeit one that won’t deliver for many years to come, of nanotechnology. Speaking of which, Larry Lessig has a great article on the politics of nanotechnology research.

Ah, politics and science. They go together like…um, like fish and bicycles.
