Looking for freelance legal researchers

By January 18, 2007law

From time to time I get calls or emails from lawyers who ask if I know anyone who does freelance legal research.  I’ve made some recommendations, but the other day I was thinking there might be some lawyers out there who I don’t know about who want to do this kind of work.  Lately, I find myself needing someone like this too.  So if there are any legal eagles out there who are willing and able to do legal research on a per-project basis then (as Ross Perot used to say) I’m all ears.  Send me your contact information, resume and a writing sample to: esvenson {at symbol] gmail.com.

P.S. If you want a practice optimized for remote work & virtual collaboration, get this 24-page guide.

Ernie, and anyone else viewing this who might have leads:

I have a wealth of experience in law, and am also a doctor. I want to leave the law firm scene and do project work that draws on my biggest strengths: identifying issues, teasing them apart, researching resolutions, and putting the results into persuasive and compelling writing. The work can range from medico-legal analyses to the most complex litigation matters — I’ve covered it all.

    Hey Ernie,

Seems like you have had many posts regarding your request. If you are still looking though, I am a Freelancer as well. I am a recent Law School Grad preparing for the NY Bar exam. In the meantime I have been doing freelance research for several solo practitioners. It has worked out so great that I have become an expert researcher and have decided that I am going to continue to do Freelance even after Bar Admission. I have my own Lexis access which really helps. If you are ever looking for someone to do your research please contact me.

    Thanks.

  • Aaron says:

Broke law students with free westlaw may run you into westlaw problems if westlaw finds out their “for educational use only” access is being used for profit.
