Apple more profitable due to iPod sales

By July 15, 2004Uncategorized

The New York Times reports on Apple’s success. Charles Wolf, an analyst at Needham & Company, provides insight into the reasons for Apple’s highest 3rd Quarter earnings in eight years: “Apple’s music products ha[ve] become something of a Trojan horse for the company as the popularity of the iTunes service and the iPod are clearly helping sell Macs. ‘The Apple Macintosh is starting to be a growth story,” he said. “Music is starting to drive Mac sales.'”

Amazing, isn’t it? That sales of a sleek, well-designed portable music player could be a catalyst to drive sales of Mac computers. Who’d of thunk it?
