I changed the look of this blog last week (if you’re reading this post via email or in an RSS reader you won’t have noticed).
So why the radical new look? Its not about aesthetics. It’s all about metrics.
Over 50% of my blog traffic comes from mobile devices like iPhones and iPads. This percentage used to be low, but it’s creeping upwards for obvious reasons. More people use their smartphones to get information from the web.
I realized that if I want to make it easy for more people to read my blog I had to optimize it for mobile devices (which is called “responsive web design”). I also moved the blog to a faster host, because how fast your web pages load is crucial as well.
I’ll be blogging here more often now that I’ve optimized the site. I hope you enjoy it, no matter what kind of device you read it from.
